Powerbrake customers prove unbeatable in recent endurance races
Altech GT Challenge 45-minute endurance race, Killarney Raceway, Cape Town
After fending off Sam Hammond's Porsche 997 GT3 Cup car to win the 8-lap sprint race held earlier in the day, Nic Chapman proved unbeatable during the feature, 45-minute endurance race held on the afternoon of the 14th of May. The 45 minute endurance race was a first for Altech GT Challenge competitors in a series that normally runs two 8-12 lap sprint races per race day. To further mix things up, organizers decided to combine the Shelby CanAm sports car series and the Altech GT Challenge series for the endurance race, resulting in a large field of exotic race cars. Driving a Ferrari 430 Challenge, Nic Chapman drove an excellent race and crossed the line as overall winner of this inaugural endurance event. Chapman's Hankook Tyres F430C is fitted with Powerbrake PB62E / 356x35mm brake kits front and rear. Endless race pads and RF-650 race brake fluid are used by the team for both sprint and endurance events.
Bridgestone Production Cars 2-hour endurance race, Phakisa Raceway, Welkom
After leading from lights-to-flag during the opening sprint race of the day, Michael van Rooyen's Williams Hunt Opel OPC T-Class car would go on to put in a very strong performance in the 2-hour endurance race to be held that evening. The Phakisa 2-hour endurance race is the only endurance event of the season in the ultra-competitive Bridgestone Production Car Series. The event is a test for cars, drivers and crews as they have to adjust strategy and driving style to suite the longer endurance race format. Bear in mind that these sprint race cars normally compete in races ranging from 6-15 laps in duration and are set up accordingly. The driver pairing of Michael van Rooyen & Devin Robertson made a real impact by winning their class convincingly and placing 3rd overall in the endurance race, while beating a number of A-Class cars in the process! The Williams Hunt Opel OPC team run a Powerbrake PB44l / 330x32mm brake kit matched to Endless race pads and RF-650 fluid.
