Michael van Rooyen takes maiden win in his Powerbrake equipped Opel Astra OPC Production Car
Showing incredible pace for such a new team, Michael van Rooyen took two wins, a 3rd place and a 7th in the new 4-race race format at Aldo Scribante Race Circuit. Having been quick during practice on Friday, Michael went on to qualify 2nd on the grid, just 0,1 second behind Genaro Bonafede. Michael dominated Race-1 resulting in a convincing win. Race-2 saw the reversal of the top four positions for the start - as per series rules. Michael again drove a strong race to finish 3rd. Race-3 saw Michael taking his second win for the day. In the fourth and final race, Michael suffered a cracked turbo manifold but managed to limp home in 7th place. In spite of this, Michael’s combined race times were enough to secure the Williams-Hunt Opel OPC team an overall win for the day.
This is an outstanding achievement, on just their 3rd race weekend! The team only finished building their car early this year after working through December to get the Opel Astra OPC ready for the 2011 season. Powerbrake are proud to have been chosen by the Williams-Hunt Opel team as their brake supplier.
Van Rooyen’s T-Class Production Car runs a Powerbrake PB44L / 330x32mm Big Brake Kit up front matched to Endless race pads front and rear. The team also uses Endless RF-650 synthetic race brake fluid.
