Powerbrake develops race brake kit for the Noble M400 / Rossion Q1
Powerbrake was approached by former Porsche driver and GT Challenge class winner, Charl Arranges, who asked us to develop a race brake kit for a new Noble M400 based GT Challenge race car that was in the process of being built. The intention was to campaign the car in the competitive GT Challenge B-Class category, which has been dominated by Ferrari’s and Porsche’s over the past few seasons.
Charl had spoken to many of the F430 Challenge owners that run Powerbrake race brake kits in the series and based on their recommendations approached us to discuss the possibility of developing a similar brake kit for the Noble platform. This presented a good opportunity for Powerbrake to turn its attention to the Noble M400, which has proven to be very popular with track day users in our export markets.
Based on extensive software simulations carried out by Powerbrake technical staff, it was decided that the new kit would include Powerbrake’s PB62E/350x34mm front and PB44L/350x34mm rear systems. As with all Powerbrake big brake kits caliper piston sizes are customized to the target vehicle in question, resulting in optimum brake balance.
Charl’s new race car made it’s debut at the final round of the Pro-tour series held at Kyalami raceway on the 12th of November 2010. While the team struggled with some engine management issues over the weekend, Charl commented that he was extremely impressed with the brake performance. It’s early days for the new car and we are confident that with some more development time under the belt Charl will be challenging his Porsche and Ferrari rivals next season.
